  • Oh, Nein! Audi In Hot Water Over ‘Green Police’ Ad

Posted on February 1st, 2010 admin No comments

As sad as it is, half game advertisements for the Superbowl are big reasons why people even bother to tune in. For that reason, airtime is ridiculously expensive. In 2008, it cost $2.6 million dollars for a 30 second spot. You know, because it’s not like people in – oh let’s say Haiti for instance – could desperately use such amounts of money. So by all means, blow it all in 30 seconds.

    Okay okay, we digress…

But not only do these ads cost a lot in terms of money, they’re costing Audi a lot more in terms of image.

Audi has jumped into the ‘green’ movement and to showcase their commitment to the environment, they have invented a fictional police force creatively known as the ‘Green Police’. I think you can infer by the clever name what the purpose of the green police is.

But that name is causing quite a stir of controversy. Find out why after the jump.

  • Spyker’s Ties to Russian Mafia Prevented Original Saab Deal?

Posted on February 1st, 2010 admin No comments

2008_saab_9-3_turbox_26_544x408By now you’ve already heard about Saab being saved from certain demise thanks to Dutch supercar company, Spyker.

Spyker originally was rejected on its first bid but won the Swedish brand thanks to a revamped second bid that addressed some of GM’s concerns.

As a part of the new deal, GM made the odd request that Spyker Chairman Vladamir Antonov be removed from the company. Since Antonov is clearly Russian, it was speculated that this request was made so that GM technology wouldn’t fall into Russian hands (apparently there’s still some bad blood between America and Russia…who knew?)

As a result Antonov was asked to step down, and voila – Spyker got themselves a premium car brand for $75 million.

But new reports are surfacing as the the ‘real’ reason for Antonov’s removal. Find out more after the jump.

  • Spy Shots: 2011 Dodge Charger

Posted on February 1st, 2010 admin No comments

10charger-f34-1600-thumb-310x206If you go to canadatrader.com you can find many 2008-2009 Dodge Chargers for sale for $15,000. If you’ve ever driven a Charger, you know why – they’re not exactly good looking, the transmission isn’t responsive, the interior is laughably bad, the handling is dreadful as is fuel consumption.

For those of you that actually care about the Charger, here are a few spy shots of the 2011 version where Chrysler’s new V6 is expected to find its way under the hood along with a more sloping roofline, changes to the rear and front facia and an updated interior.

After the jump are two more pics for you if the first pic somehow didn’t induce a yawn…
