How To Pass the Time In Saudi Arabia: Mount Cars On Bricks

While youth in North America are busy with their playstations, their music and their Facebook, young males in Saudi Arabia have thought of a more creative and confusing way to pass the time: mounting cars on bricks and rocks.

Why?

Well it originally started out as a way to show off their vehicles, much in the same way car dealerships mount that shiny convertible on ramps to grab your attention. However it’s turned into a bit more than a show-off excercise and more of a tourist attraction. The hobby is so unusual that it has now become a special stop on tours.

The young Saudi men are actually a part of a summer camp as well and it has been suggested that this activity is all a part of the camp in an effort to gain badges. Others suggest that the ground tempurature can get so hot that it’s an effort to prevent the tires from melting.

As unusual as it is, it seems harmless enough, aside from the obvious risk of scratching the paint or knocking about the undercarriage. Besides, it’s likely a lot safer than hagwalah which, despite being more of an action action packed trill, is a lot more dangerous.
