Volvo Introduces S60 Cross Country

By Kevin Harrison

Volvo unveiled a bit of a surprise today with a brand new cross country model: the S60.

The S60 Cross Country becomes the first premium sedan to get the raised ride height treatment.

According to Volvo, the introduction of the S60 on stilts is to meet the demands of their core customers.

“We want to further explore the market with our Cross Country brand. We did this back in 1997 with the V70 Cross Country and it led to the birth of a whole new segment. We have included all the capability-driven benefits of the Cross Country brand in this new model, while offering a completely unique expression of adventure and all-road readiness in a distinctly sporty and stylish package,” says Lex Kerssemakers, Senior Vice President Product Strategy and Vehicle Line Management at Volvo Cars.

Canadian S60 Cross Country’s will come with Volvo’s T5 engine only, for the moment. Buyers will also get their choice of 18 and 18 inch wheels.

The S60 Cross County will be rated at 10.2 L/100 kms combined.

Just a few months ago, Volvo introduced the Cross Country trim in the S60’s brother, the V60.S60 Cross Country
