Oh Hi: 2013 Toyota Avalon

Fresh off the heels of GM’s redesigned full-size sedan, the Impala, being revealed in New York is Toyota’s offering in the segment, the 2013 Avalon.

A lot more shapely and a lot less awkward looking, the Avalon’s new design takes on a look that for the most part is quite attractive. Hopping onto the LED craze, the Avalon has those little diodes both in front and in back which Toyota hopes will help appeal to a variety of buyers. The front end has some Camry cues infused into it as well.

Calling the design a ‘progressive’ design, the Avalon’s sleek profile is certainly reminiscent of other recent redesigned large sedan such as the new Lincoln MKZ, Chevy Impala, and Altima. Sure, it’s eye catching but when everyone’s starting to do it, doesn’t it start to lose its cache?

The interior has been redesigned with a more simplistic layout along with a quieter interior and larger trunk.

Even though engine choices carry over, Toyota has made an effort to try to make the Avalon more of an interesting ride by enhanced springs and stabilizers as well as a more rigid body structure.

So, which would you take? The new Avalon or redesigned Impala? Sound off in the comments and hit the jump for a few more pics.
