  • Bugatti to Make 435 KPH Capable Veyron

Posted on January 12th, 2011 admin No comments

There’s no doubt that Bugatti has achieved one of the most significant feats in automotive history. Being known as the maker of the fastest production car in the world is quite the accolade, but the reality is, Volkswagen (who owns Bugatti) loses money on every Veyron they make.

But that apparently is not going to hold them back from keeping this impressive hypercar into production.

In fact, how do you make the Veyron better when it is seemingly as good as it gets? Well, you make it even faster.

The current Veyron Super Sport currently holds the fastest production car honour with a top speed of 415 kph. It achieves that amazing speed by a 1,200 horsepower 16.4 litre engine.

The next Veyron will reportedly get a top speed of 435 kph. Getting that top speed obviously doesn’t come easily. That means the brakes, the tires, the shape etc need to be absolutely perfect.

But if anyone can do it, it’s Bugatti.

  • FAIL: How About A Rape Yellow Bugatti?

Posted on December 15th, 2010 admin No comments

If you’ve ever gone and and built a car that you can’t afford from an online configurator, you’re not alone. You can usually spec the car out exactly to your liking down to the colour.

A colour choice you’ve likely never seen before is Rape Yellow. That’s right, Rape Yellow is actually an available colour from Bugatti.

    Um. What?

If you’re offended by this, don’t blame Bugatti because it actually is a real colour, they didn’t make it up. There’s a yellow flower called Brassica Napus in Latin. When translated into English, it’s actually called the Rape. The flower is useful as it gets repressed into oil for everyday use.

Since “rape oil” doesn’t quite have a positive connotation attached to it, we obviously just call it canola oil. But Bugatti, it seems, is quite happy to keep the colour as its original name, despite the controversial nature of it.

If you’ve ever been raped, chances are you probably won’t opt for a colour that reminds you of the unfortunate event every time you drive your car, so Bugatti might be well advised to change the name. It’s just common sense, and for that you get a FAIL, Bugatti.

Canola Yellow doesn’t sound quite as bad.
