Pope Francis Discourages Priests & Nuns From Owning Expensive Cars

Pope Francis is apparently unimpressed with priests, nuns and members of the Catholic Church who like to own fancy cars.

Francis told young trainee priests and nuns that a having the latest smart phones, fashion accessories or cars will not lead to a life of a happiness.

“It hurts me when I see a priest of a nun with the latest model car, you can’t do this,” he said.

“A car is necessary to do a lot of work, but please, choose a more humble one,” he continued. “If you like the fancy one, just think about how man children are dying of hunger around the world.”

So, just what sort of vehicle is acceptable to Pope Francis? His vehicle of choice for driving around Vatican City is a Ford Focus.

Francis is known for being humble and has taken many non-traditional steps since becoming Pope such as minimizing gold accessories and gowns, and limiting the use of the Popemobile (pictured above). He has also chosen not to stay in the traditional chamber, rather opting for one of the regular rooms.

What do you think of the Pope’s position on cars?
