Police Used Mercedes-Benz mbrace GPS system to locate Boston Boming Suspects

By now, you’ve likely already heard about the bombings at the Boston Marathon and how brothers Tamerlan and Dzhokhar Tsarnaev are the prime suspects behind it all. Well more light is being shed just on how they were tracked down, and as it turns out, Mercedes-Benz unknowingly had a helping hand.

As it turned out, the brothers allegedly were on their way to New York City to plot a similar scheme and they ended up carjacking a 26 year old entrepreneur, who’s named only as “Danny”. Danny’s ride is a Mercedes-Benz M-Class which happened to be equipped with their GPS tracking sustem known as mbrace.

The borthers eventaully got low on gas and stopped at a gas station. As one went inside to pay, the other apparently put down his gun for a moment leaving Danny with the opportunity to flee. He ran to the next gas station and told them to call the police.

When the police arrived, Danny remembered his vehicle was equipped with the mbrace system and told police that they should use it to track them down. Sure enough the system led police exactly to the location of the brothers and that’s when the massive shooting took place which left older brother Tamerlan dead on the scene.

It just goes to show that GPS systems not only help you get to where you want to go, but they can also help catch high profile car thieves who try to knick your ride.
