Bad news, Greenpeace. The Cadillac Escalade will exist past 2013.
After mass amounts of criticism from environmentalists, motorists and even auto enthusiasts, GM is going to keep the Escalade alive to see another generation, much to the excitement of rappers, oil executives and auto thieves everywhere.
There was speculation that this iteration was going to be the last one produced due to the overwhelming interest in smaller more efficient cars. A GM executive has evened been rumoured to have been quoted saying:
“”We were finding that for everyone turned on by that image there were four (potential luxury buyers) who were [turned off].”
But the Escalade is popular enough in its own right for GM to continue to make the business case for it. So a refresh will come in 2014. Expect the refresh to be largely cosmetic. The Escalade will likely keep the same underpinnings, however a new interior and more efficient technology is likely to appear.
