Volvo To Produce Performance Laden Polestar XC90

By Kevin Harrison

Volvo’s new brand ambassador, the XC90, has yet to hit dealers but the Swedish brand is already eager to add a performance version courtesy of tuning company Polestar.

Interestingly, in an interview conducted with AutoExpress with Vice President of Powertrain for Volvo, Michael Fleiss, the Polestar version would not be the range topping model. In fact, Fleiss said it would sit somewhere between the base T6 and the T8 plug-in hybrid. This would suggest that the Polestar version would likely be a tuned version of the T6 producing somewhere in the 350 horsepower range.

However Polestar does more than just tuning so expect some appealing visual effects to be added along with some suspension upgrades and interior upgrades as well.

AutoExpress said the XC90 Polestar likely wouldn’t hit European dealers until 2016, which means it’s likely to set foot on our shores a year or so afterward.

What do you think of the XC90 Polestar?
