2014 Mercedes-Benz S-Class Revealed

The Mercedes-Benz S-Class is not only the flagship of the German brand but it’s probably the flagship of new innovative luxury. When a new generation S-Class is born, the gadgetry  almost gets more attention than the actual design or engineering does.

Case in point, we have the 2014 Benz now released and while the looks can’t be argued to be anything but classy, the real story here is what this big Benz gets inside:

  • 300 LED lights inside the cabin
  • Not one, but two 12 inch display screens for controls, navigation etc
  • Five different options in rear seating including reclining up to 45 degrees, calf support, massage feature and the ability to control the centre console from the rear.
  • Cameras that scan the road ahead and adjust the suspension accordingly to make sure you don’t feel the slightest bump.
  • An Air Balance Package that ionizes and filters the air and emits five choices in fragrance

And of course there’s a whole lot more. In terms of engines, the S-class will initially come to North America in two guises: S550 and S550 4Matic. They will be powered by a twin-turbo V8 which produces 449 horsepower and 516 pound foot torque.

Expect a high performance S63 and a hybrid version to bow at a later date. There is also a rumour of an ultra-high luxury Pullman edition being in the works to replace the recently deceased Maybach brand.
